"Fede" means "faith" in Italian. The Impressionist style of the painting obscures the details of the architecture - we see the structure of the sacred space as if through a fog. It is a bit like faith: we know the presence of the solidity of the divine, but can't see the particulars most of the time. In a variety of gray tones, I painted this painting almost entirely with a palette knife. 

The painting is framed with a handcrafted wood floater frame painted in a neutral gray which complements the colors of the painting. It is wired and ready to hang.

This painting "Fede (Faith)" represents the ethereal mystery of encountering God. We think we see a structure, an outline, but the details, the precision of the "how" and "why" of faith are undefined, blurry. Just like the earth and the sky come together at the horizon line, celestial and terrestrial come together in the built space of churches and cathedrals, where humans reach towards heaven in stone, and God descends to earth in the sacraments.
