Italian art and architecture and Catholic imagery flow in and out of my paintings from the three years I spent living and working in Italy.
For two decades my artistic inspiration has come from the human figure, sacred architecture, the landscape and Christian tradition. I am inspired by the urban and rural, architectural and natural landscape I find around me, the light on the rooftops or passing through trees, or the complex architecture of a local church -- all of the spaces which compose the places of our lives. During the three years I spent living and working in Italy for an American study abroad program, I was steeped in the Medieval and Renaissance masters and the intimacy and beauty of daily Italian life. Images from the years I spent there flow in and out of my work, in particular images of the Virgin Mary.
My paintings drawings, and prints have been exhibited throughout the United States, most recently at University of Dayton, OH and the Jubilee Museum, Columbus, OH. My work can be found in more than 100 private collections across the world as well as the permanent collections of Valparaiso University, Indiana, Gordon College, Massachusetts and Rivier University, New Hampshire.
