For two decades my artistic inspiration has come from the human figure, sacred architecture, the landscape and Christian tradition. I am inspired by the urban and rural, architectural and natural landscape I find around me, the light on the rooftops or passing through trees, or the complex architecture of a local church -- all of the spaces which compose the places of our lives.
During the three years I spent living and working in Italy for an American study abroad program, I was steeped in the Medieval and Renaissance masters and the intimacy and beauty of daily Italian life. Italian art and architecture and Catholic imagery continue to flow in and out of my paintings from that time.
